Bisc Limpkit's Guide to Promo Cutting!

[Cut fairy music....]

Bisc Limpkit: Here today, I'm going to be bringing you a special guide to Promo Cutting. If you watch HWF-TV then you'll know NOT to follow the Lethal Alliance's guide. Instead, if you want to be a good promo cutter then don't make like a Diamond Cutter but follow the following easy to follow following, followsmen, follow-o-roonie, am I getting off track?!... steps.

1. Before you start off, make sure that you've actually got a purpose for the promo you're about to cut. There's nothing worse than making things up on the fly when you're not good at it. Please take a little time before you show up on camera, and make sure you've got a purpose.
(Note: This is a very easy step to follow, but if you don't feel like roleplaying then don't. Simply put. Nothing worse than a Roleplay for the sole reason that you HAVE to.)

2. So, you've decided on a purpose. Whatever it may be, either adressing a foe, congratulating a friend, bad-mouthing every person on the roster, celebrating a victory or complaining about a loss, you can always combine purposes. This allows you to get more air-time, thus more ratings for yourself, BUT without the downside of having fans fall asleep as you rediculously make a fool out of yourself by constantly repeating what you've just said with different words.
(Note: Please don't try to make your RP's longer by repeating yourself. This federation is Quality over Quantity so better RP's will be long repeating ones.)

3. If it's your choice (Like it is ever?!), and you request some air-time, make it at a nice location. Don't come out in an untelivised SWF Dark Match and cut a promo, who's going to hear it!? And most importantly don't do an in-ring promo during the week!! That is of UPMOST importance, because everyone's going to laugh at you! Since when has the SWF had shows apart from one a week anyway? So it'll just look like you've rigged up a whole show for yourself to get ratings, when everyone knows you're just lying. Try and keep the location somewhere where you'd expect to see a character like yourself. For example, the local graveyard or slaughterhouse will make a great location for the youn "Dark" character in you. On the otherhand, a nice gym will always prove something as you kick the shit out of them helpless bags, aren't you so tough? You could always try another scene, WAY away from your character for something a little interesting. But don't EVER keep using the same setting over and over again, it get's too monotinous.
(Note: When Roleplaying, starting a roleplay with a setting is useually a GREAT idea. Then following little scene-breaks help break the monotnousisity of speeking too long. So after speaking for say, a paragraph or "block" of text, put a little scene-block in there before continuing).

4. After you've found that little somewhere that is sure to captivate audiences with it's cinematic excellence, start adressing your purpose. Stay in the boundaries of your character, making sure not to repeat yourself too much. If you're a smart-ass make your promo's entertainingly funny, if you're a dark-ass make your promo's spine-tingingly frightening or on the otherhand if your a somthingelse-ass make your promo something elseingly exciting.
(Note: Remember that after speaking a little while, a scene-break is ofter a good idea.)

5. If a citizen of the place you're promo-ing in comes up and talks to you, don't fob him off immediately. Listen to what he has to say, if he badmouth's you, you could bash him up. But don't boast about it, because; do you really feel good bashing up someone that's not as strong as you?
(Note: Don't attack any staff members or wrestlers in your promo's too without their handlers permission, see rules and regulations.)

6. Restrain from making grammer and vocabulary errors. This makes your promo look very primative, and you, very stupid and succeptable to coppin' a verbal mugging courtosy of your arch-rival.
(Note: Spelling, punctuation and grammer errors are VERY un-proffesional in a roleplay take your time to "preview" your Roleplay after you've finished it and check for anyerrors.)

7. Make your promo "colorful", you're a colorful chap most likely, then why should your promo be drab? (Note: This actually applies to the text/font color and not the "color" of your character. Take some time to learn HTML color code, see HTML Help section, and make a color scheme that you would use every roleplay. This also goes for a font scheme, it's good to RP in a different font to make your RP look more classy, and you can send that font to SWF Management for it to be put up on the site for downloadability, thus your RP will be seen in full effect. Now for example; "Settings/Scene-blocks" may be in "red". "Text by your character" may be in "green", "and text from others" may be in blue" while everything may be in the font "helvetica". (Please don't use that, it was only a example.))

8. Again, I repeat, before you air your promo on SWF-TV please get check it over for any mistakes you made. It's very easy to do, I do it all the time!
(Note: This actually means using the preview button, I said it before but I stress this is VERY important in making your RP's look suitable and not full of HTML and Grammer etc errors.)

9. Oh, I nearly forgot. You can always use special guests (Apart from SWF superstars/etc) in your promo to spice it up. If you're a friend of Kid Rock, for example, don't hesitate to ask him to appear in a promo. Don't overuse your celebrity friends though, or else you'll look like a git.
(Note: Exactly, don't use this often. Only OCCASIONALLY will it work and be deemed a good RP.)

10. And finally, when you've finished it's pack up time and you can go.
(Note: End a RP by using a closing scene-block. The normal one is "Character finishes up and the camera fades to black, etc" It's also a good idea that once you've finished up, to include a little banner or logo of your character with his name and catch-phrase etc on it. If necessary seek out another member of the SWF to help create you one. You can also start off RP's with a little logo thingy too. Once you get better you'll develop little things that you do and people will copy, don't get upset it just means that they think your RP's rule and they want to copy 'em.)

Bisc Limpkit: Well that's it for my guide to promo cutting, I hope you enjoyed this special telecast. I'll catch you on the flipside!
